Materials List
First assemble the materials you will need to create this artwork:
Canvas – Use any size you like. This was created on a 16″ x 20″ canvas
- Canvas (shown 16” x 20” wrapped canvas)
- Flat brushes – I love this cheap set (works great)
- Mop brushes – Good MOP brush
- TIP>> you can get away with cheap flat brushes, but for a mop brush, buy quality (trust me…don’t buy cheap mops; they will drop hairs into your paint and ruin your art)
- Paper towel
- Small palette knife – or – detail brush(es)
- Palette (use a coated or plastic paper plate)
- Water – Mister Bottle – a must for working with acrylics
- Acrylic Pouring Medium
- Acrylic Medium: Gloss Gel
- Acrylic Glazing Mediums – Satin and Gloss
- Illuminating Medium (optional)

- Acrylic Paints Used:
- Titanium White – always good to keep a large bottle of this on-hand
- Pthalo Blue/Green Shade
- Payne’s Grey
- Cerulean Blue
- Black
- Note: You can use any brands you like. I usually use archival paints, but you can use student-level or lower-level paints (like Liquitex Basics) for this and still get nice results!
- Spray Varnish – easy to use, my favorite – ALWAYS USE IN VENTILATED AREA or OUTSIDE
