6 easy steps to create your own original artwork (with some professional tips and tricks):
- Choose the type of art you want to create. Not just the subject (abstracts, florals, landscapes, etc.), but also the type of art medium (oils, acrylics, watercolors, multi-media, etc.) There are lots of free/paid demos and tutorials on youtube and art sites you can watch to help you decide
- Get the tools needed – you can purchase a set of paints, brushes and canvas online or at art/craft shops. Look for special deals and all-inclusive sets (perfect for newbies just getting started).
- Buy a set of inexpensive canvas boards and practice! You’ll be SO glad you did vs. jumping into a full canvas painting.
- Watch the techniques artists use and then practice them. Don’t be afraid to mess up – you can always paint over and start fresh.
- When you are ready to really start painting, get a good class and follow the segments. Be sure to watch the class through at least once (or twice) and then work each segment of your painting as shown.
- Problems or areas where you run into trouble? A good art instructor will allow for support and guidance – just message them and see if they offer it before you purchase a course. If you are looking to paint abstracts and contemporary art, check out the courses at https://www.101artists.com.
