Ever had one of those days when you just… can’t get motivated to paint?
You sit down, stare at your supplies, and that familiar sense of “blah” creeps in. You’re not alone – and, believe it or not, there’s magic inside that boredom. Boredom = Inspiration (Really!) So many of my best ideas started as a yawn, a restless afternoon, or a “guess I should clean the studio again” moment.
Here’s what I’ve learned: boredom isn’t the enemy—it’s actually the quiet before the creative storm.
When your mind is restless, it’s primed to invent!
Want a Simple Way to Turn That Energy Into Art?
- Try a 10-minute doodle sprint—no expectations, just lines, colors, and shapes.
- Look around and sketch the most ordinary thing you see. Make it strange or bold (your mug, houseplant, pet…)
- Pull out one color that you NEVER use and plop some on a canvas. Start moving it around with your brush. What comes to you? It could start a whole new series of paintings.
🎨🖌️For me, it’s usually red or something really bright. I tend to stick to more neutrals, blues, earthy tones, but when I pop down some red or bright yellow (orange?) I usually have a lot of fun!
If you’re still stuck, jump into a guided step-by-step art tutorial—sometimes you just need a spark from outside your own routine. My full library is waiting for you, and April’s still all about spring color and trying something unexpected.
Your Challenge: Make Boredom Your Muse
Next time you’re feeling uninspired, don’t fight it. Use it! Set a timer, start moving your brush, and let something new unfold. Our dullest days often lead to the boldest breakthroughs—if you give them a chance.
